Thread: please don't consider me crazy.. but i think i'm haunted.

like i said guys.. you may consider me nuts after reading this.. so here goes.. when i quit my last job i ended up traveling up north to stay with an old friend from high school.. the first night i was there some odd stuff started happening.. stuff like the porch light would turn itself on or off whenever it felt like.. or some of the kids' toys would turn on and make noise.. a small play guitar for example would start playing at random.. my friend's mom just said.. "yeah.. there's a ghost in this house"..

whether i or you choose to believe this.. other events happened while i was there.. it seemed to be in the back room mostly.. this was the children's play room.. a small jungle playset would often turn on and make it's usual jungle sounds.. also the door to the walk in closet was always left open and occasionally i'd notice the hangers swinging back and forth when no one was in or around the closet..

my most significant experience occured while shaving.. i was taking my time having a noon shave when the toys in the next room went crazy.. just about every toy that could turn on or make noise did.. seeing as how i take my shaving serious.. i looked straight in the direction of the room and slapped my hand against the counter.. i didn't say anything.. but all the noise stopped immediately.. i finished my shave without a further distraction.. however.. once finished i took no more than 3 steps out of the restroom when i hear the small glass i use to soak my brush in, shatter.. it was honestly sitting just perfectly stable on the countertop and when i go back in it's in the sink.. in pieces.. i was ****ed.. but didn't say anything.. i simply cleaned the glass and left..

other events happened while i was there.. but mostly just small stuff.. things like the cold chills throughout the house or the feeling of 'presence' when i was the only one in the room.. things like that..

anyway.. my friend was offered a great job in the bay area.. she asked me to move with her and be the full time stay at home nanny/houseman.. i accepted and everything was fine.. we moved down, found a place, and everything has been good.. the kids are with us and everything is good.. we had been down here for a few weeks and living with just the basics till we could move everything down..

on christmas weekend i went up to spend the holiday with her parents and we packed all our stuff up and drove a uhaul back down..

well.. it's happening down here now..

toys are turning on at random, my friend jessica witnessed a can of soda fly right off the dinner table and all over the floor, a bottle of old spice magically poured half of itself into the toilet and placed it's cap back in and went back to it's stop on the shelf, and today as i'm doing the laundry.. the washing machine lid keeps opening itself up midwash..

basically i feel like this spirit or whatever the heck it could be is doing whatever it can to mess with us.. did it follow the kids' toys here? are there such things as hauntings? does it have something against me?

do i attempt to ignore these odd events? what do i do?

Well, given that these things happened only when you were up at the previous house, and then after you brought some stuff to the current house, the correlation is not with you but with something in the content of that U-Haul.

Of course, correlation doesn't mean causation either.

I don't know what else to say, I've not seen anything like that myself. The closest was a chip magically appearing on one of my best razors, but that I think was a direct result from a friend visiting.

well.. i had never experienced anything really like that before.. but the 6 weeks i spent in that house really opened up my eyes.. my friends family had experienced it since moving in to the place.. and to further drive the nail home.. some research found that the house was built 20 years ago.. the first tenent lived there for 14 and then moved.. after that the house had been rented out every 2 years since.. which really made me feel like something was up..

but i feel like maybe if this is a spirit or whatever.. it has attached itself to something from that back room.. namely the children's toys.. one or all of them.. i don't know.. i'd feel bad if i just getting rid of their stuff at random though.. i mean.. the boy is only 2 years old and the girl is going to be 1 on the 8th.. it would be kinda mean to start taking their stuff away.

Cant say for certain as i have never experienced anything like you describe but if it were me I would rid myself of everything that came from the back room and replace it with new stuff and see what happens from there.

yeah.. i'd like that.. but it would be way too costly.. it's tons of toys.. i mean.. these kids are spoiled.. and to be honest.. i'd rather spend money on a dirtybird scuttle and some more creams.

Aha! I knew somehow this was a ploy to buy more shaving stuff. Those toys are taking up valuable AD resources.

Seriously though, My wife and I moved into a house that we heard footsteps on our deck and upstairs while we were the only ones there. We heard crying through our baby monitor while my daughter was sound asleep (20 acres from the next nearest house, I doubt it was cross talk), and all kinds of other spooky stuff. We had friends that heard it too and refused to stay over any more.

We moved, but it did not track with us.

At least make believe that you're being haunted by a hot woman ghost.

To me, that would make it much more tolerable.

No! If it's an item, or items, the correct way to do it is to identify which one(s), and replace these only. That's a standard search algorithm. You could try a bisection search as it's pretty simple and fool-proof to implement, it only scales linearly, but is guaranteed to succeed, as long as

+1 on nightblades advice and I would also use a lot of Sage incense or smudges. It's a long time thing for cleansing spiritually, used by many cultures and religions. You could also go the, 'get a catholic priest and have the house and it's contents blessed' route.
It isn't unknown for an entity to attach itself to someone or something, I would be wondering why it has attached itself in your particular case. Were there no other young children/babies in the previous house prior to your friends children?
Another way to deal with it is to take the logical route and explain it away with 'reasonable' solutions. Things like telling yourself, "Well, since they's ain't no breeze 'cause the winders shut, I must be lead footin' it around the house to 'ave caused that dern door ta slaim shut!" etc. You can tell I probably don't take the 'reasonable' route myself. I tend to think that reason and science can't explain everything, and that just because there isn't proof of somethings existence, doesn't mean a damn thing when that something is annoying you.
I would advise using a calm mind and caution and I would also advise looking into some new age techniques of psychic protection as they may help, if all in the house attempt to do it regularly. As one belief is that the entity feeds off the emotional energy of the living. Psychic protection will keep your own energy contained. Causing the disturbances to slow down and eventually stop.
Just some of my thoughts on the matter anyway, and now of course, I sound just a crazy as you....

P.S I once lived in a house that had a serious problem, the kind of spirit/ghost/entity that holds you down, the kind that hits you when your sleeping or not expecting it, the kind that shows itself to you. They can do physical harm mate. Just a warning on that aspect of it for you. I never felt any fear either in the early stages.

being serious here Vic.........Maybe it's time to have a talk with said spirit.I wouldn't be antagonistic but hash it out.If it's a child then maybe instead of being stern and ticking it off,you might try a softer approach.I believe in spare the rod and spoil the child and all,but we are talking about a spirit...they have the advantage here. Case in point,when you slapped your hand down,what you got was a broken glass...gettin m'drift here ?Maybe it's a little lonely or maybe even a little scared.I am being totally serious here.
