Thanked: 1936Ihave put years into the thinking process of it all and what I have come to is the most important part of being prepared is to prepare the mind. I have all of the goodies at home to get by for quite some time in any scenerio that I could think up...it's just that I would have to make it home. You can't carry everything with you...so I simply feel that you must educate yourself and apply it so that it "sticks" in the grey matter. You really don't need all the "gizmo's" out there as long as you have educated yourself.

"When everything really goes to Hell in a Handbasket, the man with the most bullets wins"
I am only half kidding...

Thanked: 1936I think I have in the neighborhood of 10K live rounds & enough to reload another 5K count & if I had more bullets 3-4x more...but I do have molds. Add .22 & I could double that. I got crazy in the "pre-Obomination" days. Almost have the credit card paid down...
I may not win a war ...but I could hold out for a pretty good "conflict".Southeastern Oklahoma/Northeastern Texas helper. Please don't hesitate to contact me.

Here is the problem. If I trusted myself enough to have a gun in the house. I can only imagine that a better trained group of ex-military and/or ex-martial artists would come to my house and demand my supplies. I would of course resist and either be killed right away or if lucky kill one or 2 others before my supplies were liberated.
There is strength in numbers and my only hope is that I can contact my well trained StraightRazorPlace.com users and beg for help in return for my good humor and willingness to help the StraightRazorPlace group.
heh... until then I will make some kits for the house/work/car.

Something which hasn't really been brought up here since the earthquake, but after it happened there were quite a few reports of rape and sexual abuse.
I think some pepper spray and maybe one of those compact air horns would be good to add to the kit, especially for the ladies.I love the smell of shaving cream in the morning!

Without Rule Of Law. WROL. What a scary thought. I've thought about it and since I live in the vicinity of the biggest nuclear target I might just die in the blast. But in case of WROL here in Washington DC area, I would grab all of my hunting equipment, which is packed and ready, and head down to the mountains in southern Virginia, where I have some family and a hunting cabin. In the case of being locked down in the Metro area and not having the option of leaving, I have amassed a lot of guns and bullets and venison in my freezer.

Thanked: 983What will you do with all that venison when the freezer is down from lack of electricity?! I would consider the alternative and smoke some of that meat after the next hunting trip. Turn it into Jerky/Biltong/Quechua or whatever you want to call it. Or get one of those modern dehydraters and dry some of it that way too.
Just a thought, as I noticed with all the flooding and cyclones we've had here, one of the big problems has been food rotting in peoples freezers and stores unable to get supplies in.
