Lost my spyderco
Today I lost my spyderco delica.
I had it clipped in my pocket. We went out with the kids, and when I got home, it was missing.
Double bummer is that it was something my wife and I bought on my honeymoon.
When I told my wife, she was actually genuinely sorry for me. I had not expected that since she does not care particularly about knives, but she knew I cared about that knife. Couple of minutes later, she told me to choose a new one, and she'd buy it for me
Woot! My wife is the best.
I am thinking of choosing a new Delica. I just have to decide whether to pick VG10 or ZDP189 steel.
If I believed in such things, I would think it was waiting to happen. I already 'almost' lost it several times recently. Today it must have fallen in the sand somewhere so I didn't hear it go. Sorry to hear that Bruno, loosing nice things is a bite. If I may suggest, whatever new knife/knives you are weighing around, this guy does great, comprehensive reviews on knives, as well as firearms, tac gear, and lots of other stuff. Perhaps he could shed some light on a knife you are curious about.

I made up my mind and decided to go with the VG10.

i'm a knife guy the ZDP189 steel is the best steel one can buy it will hold an edge longer then any other steel you have but remember this the harder the steel the more difficult it is to hone

I decided to go with flat ground, since I'll be using it mostly for cutting carboard, rope, etc and the blade is thinner.
For the flat ground, I read that ZDP is harder to hone and sometimes has a warp from the factory. Otoh, VG10 is supposedly significantly easier to hone (which is important to me), does not have the warp issue and has better resistance to water damage.Last edited by Bruno; 03-28-2011 at 09:33 AM.
