I have all SRV's recordings (I think) and I find each one absolutely brilliant. His style and tone has not been equalled since he died.
Having said that John Mayer's early acoustic stuff is pretty impressive and his version of 'Lenny' on his live DVD is outstanding.

From the opening bars the band has the whole crowd behind them. The audience know every word to every song. Terrific stuff.

I'm 51 in 10 days time and still rock to this music. Mind you I also like lesser known bands from the 70's such as Budgie, King Crimson etc.. My favourite band would be Ten Years After, Alvin Lee sure can rip up the blues.

My favourite single track would be Jefferson Airplane's 'White Rabbit". Now where's my stash

    Definitely off topic eh ?.
You brought a tear to a middle aged mans eye
King Crimson`s 21st century skitsoid man Alvin Lee`s I`m comming home Hendrix Joplin Ahhh the woman the drugs the music I`ll have to put on Hendrix`s machine gun now and piss the whole family off as I sit in the corner with half a gin on my face and head slowly moving to the beat,I gotta go now ,I`ll blame you of course

PS A time when people could really play and sing Jeff Beck ,Jimmy Page Janice Joplin and Grace Slick Blackmore etc

We must get together and have a rock night.

I've just watched / listended to Led Zep's Achilles Last Stand. Plant and Page at their best live in 1979 Knebworth.

Oh Robert Fripp - King Crimson..brilliant.."Neurosurgeons scream for more"

This Saturday night we're having a bit of a shindig..pot luck dinner thing for my b'day. I get to choose the music.

Might just warm everyone up with Black Sabbath..Supernaut..(Vol4)

They say that a sure sign that you are getting old is when you don't have to enter a music shop to buy the albums you want cause they are all in the bargain bins out the front.

No, the worst thing is when you get into the elevator, you're tapping your feet and whistling along to the tune wondering "hmm, that sounds familiar" when all of a sudden you realize what it is... and the last time you heard it was at 100+ decibels with screaming guitars out of a stack of refrigerator sized speakers in some squalid little hole in the wall drunk out of your mind with a half naked redhead who didn't even have a name wrapped around you... and now... it's elevator music.
