Thanked: 235thought you might find this interesting
In our attempt to get pregnant, my wife and I are going through fertility treatment. For this reason I have had to inject my wife with a fertility drug for the last few mornings. When I felt how easy the syringe went into the flesh I thought it must be sharp and I recalled a thread about how fast a syringe degrades when used multiple times. So today I decided to get the microscope out and take some photos of the edge to show you.
This syringe is a single use, preloaded, pen type syringe. The needle part comes in its own sharps container.Last edited by ndw76; 04-07-2011 at 06:52 AM. Reason: I don't like the photo uploader and it doesn't like me

Thanked: 995Needles these days are designed to cut into the tissue, and to be small enough caliber that they will hopefully pass between the superficial nerves that generate the most discomfort. That really does make it less painful than pushing a blunt point into the skin. I am old enough, pretty much anyone born in the 50's or before would be, to remember nurses having to learn to hone needles so they could be reused. Cool pix.

you should see the edge on a large gauge piercing needle. a 10 gauge needle is so sharp you don't even know it hit ya till it's out the other side :P
