    Default work smarter not harder..

    Good afternoon SRP,

Though I am still pretty new, I thought I would try and start an interesting thread. I did search for similar terms and didn't find anything so hopefully this is new.

A little history: I am prior Navy, and am now medically retired (at 36 this leaves a lot of time for me to indulge in hobbies) since I am retired I am an at home dad. I know they are few but we do exists.. hahahah.. Well one thing I was known for in the Navy was getting my work done completely and creatively. I had watched a commercial not to long ago where a guy didn't have a broom so he used the Pomeranian instead. Of course as guys go (and ladies too don't fool yourself) we have done done something creatively and of course in a way that gets the job done. I would like to see how many of these instances we can all come up with. I will start. I might me wrong in this being at least a little fun and humorous but you never know till you try.

    Today:
(problem) It was raining and my son wanted to go outside and play, but alas we were stuck inside yet again for this week (april showers right?)... We have laminate floors in dire need of cleaning, and my son had made a mess of his breakfast so it was all over him and in need of a bath...

(solution) My son loves to play with bubbles, needless to say we have a bubble gun, and giant wands, ect... So I cleared the living room and we got out the bubble stuff then proceeded to cover the entire living room floor with bubbles.. he was running around and laughing and all that fun stuff.. Chasing bubbles, sliding across the floor and of course blowing bubbles (I am lazy so I just went to town with the bubble gun (those things are great fun BTW)). When all was done and started to settle down I pulled out the mop and orange oil cleaner then proceeded to swab the deck then took the kiddo to the bath and rinsed him off.. (no need to soap up or anything, I made the bubble stuff so it was not harmful to his skin).. All in a days work.. We had fun and got the chore done.. I didn't have to scrub the floor because with all the scuffling and sliding that took care of it.... and no need to scrub the little guy it was already done...

Hopefully this will catch on and we all pass on these creative ideas to each other.. or at least get a good laugh

Nervin, you are my new hero as a Dad. I now have two teenage sons, so we're a little past the bubble-gun stage (though both like to go to the range to shoot real ones). I wish I had thought of activities like that when mine were little.

Both of mine did love to play in the sink, making a mess with bubbles, various kitchen utensils, etc. Cherish these moments when they're little-it will all be over before you know it; then you will endure a few years where you don't know anything, and they know it all.

Well thank you, but I think my wife would disagree. she isn't too fond of me thinking outside the box. The stuff that just seems off kinda makes her crazy. Although that kind of thinking comes from my dad, he has always been a good pops, and one of his two main rules is no matter what you do have fun, because in the end the moment you give up the kid at heart then that is it.... He always worked and took care of eveything that needed to, but he also had remotecontrol cars and big kid toys.. heck he is in his late 50s and still goes to play paintball with my younger brother... My favorite quote from hom came from a conversation he was having with my mom.. she asked why he was such a kid when he wasn't working and he said "Because I don't want to be that grumpy old guy chasing kids off my lawn, I wanna throw water balloons at em because i am bored."

I actually have a teenage daughter and once she hit 12 she no longer wanted to hang out with dad... apparently I am embarassing already.. hahahahaha.. and yes she is a know it all...

You were shaving with a straight razor during this escapade, right?
