FIRE FIRE Everywhere!!!!! Texas Wildfires...Possum Knigdom Area
Hi guys,
I don't know if any of my fellow Texans have been having to deal with our statewide wildfire situation, but it is about to be the end of me. We have been fighting fire since last Friday almost non stop. I have managed about 8 hours of sleep in the last 72 hours, and if the heat from the fires weren't enough, the 95-103 degree temps and 35-65mph winds we have had certainly were.
I live on the edge of Wichita Falls, but our family land and lake house is on Lake Possum Kingdom, where one of the biggest fires has been raging for a week now. It has simply been hellish! If any of you have homes or land in that area and need updates on the status of your property, feel free to shoot me a message or email and I will try to help. I have mainly been working the southwest of the lake, as well as the Hell's Gate area and Bluff Creek, but I managed to catch a helicopter ride this morning over the entire lake and surrounding land so I know most of what is still there and what isn't. Also, a lot of people are very concerned about animals that were left behind, and we certainly understand that. We were able to rescue about 20 dogs from lake properties and they are being cared for at different locations.
Again, the main reason for this post was to let any of my fellow SRP forumites know that I am in the area, I have access and I can possibly get you information if you need it.
We are asking for everyone to please send your thought and prayers....Lord knows we need them!
Thanks!

Very sorry to hear of the wildfires. Scary what nature can do as evidenced by the twisters in NC this past week. Whatever you do work safe as you can. I'll say a prayer for y'all in that area.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Hope you get some rest soon. Fighting wildfires is some of the toughest, most worthwhile and rewarding work out there. With that heat and wind I bet things are really blowing up , yikes! Here's hoping your boots hold up and you get some clean nomex every now and then
Thanks for all you have done. The people you help these couple of weeks will remember your efforts for the rest of their lives...
