Thanked: 3795Back For More!
For anyone who noticed or wondered...
I've been on again / off again around here for the past year. My lab was shut down on April 29 last year and things have been a bit of a mess since then. I announced last fall that I found a job in Baltimore but on the day we went to pick up the rental truck, my wife was offered a job at a fairly reputable medical institution in Rochester MN and I was unofficially offered a job there at the same time. After I extricated myself from the Baltimore commitment, my father, who lives near Rochester, suffered some medical issues in December that required near constant care so I delayed my starting that job until two weeks ago.
Moving onto the farm had an added unplanned effect. I had taken on razor work for three people just before having to relocate. My father demanded as little as possible was to be brought into his large and nearly empty house and garage but I convinced him to allow me to bring some of my restoration equipment. Unfortunately that permission did not extend to USING it. Apparently my buffer, and even my Dremel, used more electricity than he was willing to allow. He was also complaining about the amount of "stuff" we brought with us. My brother told me that my wife and I had no business bringing more than three pair of underwear between the two of us, and that was pretty much the way it seemed with everything. Regardless of the excuses, I took way too long to finish the razor work and worse, failed to keep in touch with them. Now that I'm back and have internet access again, I intend to try to make it up to the three of them.
Basically, it is my intention to stick around SRP from now on. Things are still disorganized as we still have most of our stuff in our house in Iowa City and are living in a small apartment in Rochester, but at least I now have a job and internet access again and can unpack a few razor toys. I'm going to be setting up a buffer station outside and just carry the buffer out when I want to use it. As much as I'd love to, I won't take on any razor work for anyone in the near future as I do not have access to everything yet. I figure it will take a while to earn back a little trust in me anyway. In the mean time I have six months of SRP reading to get caught up on!

Welcome back, and I am very happy to hear that you're life is resuming some normallcy. I'm certain the three individuals in question will understand the stresses that have kept you from living up to the wonderful reputation you've earned here on SRP. Best of luck as you resettle your life!

Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Really glad your life is settling down and that you are back at SRP. Your input has always been helpful. As your tag line says, don't let the bastards grind you down.

I am happy to hear your doing well. Due to the type of folks who frequent the SRP, I'm certain you won't have any issue with the three gentleman. Good health and prosperity to you and your wife (Dad and brother also).
