    Default Vacations, exciting plans anyone?

Just curious what everyone is doing now that it is peak vacation season. I know the posts have slowed quite a bit as people follow their summer pursuits. Recently I have read about fishing trips, a few new marriages, Lynn's great trip to Italy, Bill's new home/shop, etc.....

Myself, I just got back from a week at Ocean City MD, a local beach resort where we rent a condo each summer. First summer my now "mature" 18yo daughter was "too old" to vacation with mom and dad . She spent a week there herself with friends, he first independant trip away from home. In three weeks my wife and I will spend a few days in Rehoboth De. another small costal resort town and hopefully meet up with Rich Z from NY. Mid fall my wife and I will have a long weekend in Lancaster PA, heart of Amish country (very little shaving going on there) and in late fall a weekend in nearby Gettysburg. For us it is quiet, laid back weekends, nice dinners and each others company.

What is on the agenda with everyone else this year?

Ahhh... just returned from a week in Vegas. Hot (but cheap) this time of year! Saw a few shows, played a little poker, and ATE! Best part... we didn't have to hock anything to get home

For the balance of the year, we hope to get in a couple day trips now and then... we take care of an elder family member and it's hard to find someone to fill in when we're gone.

Took ours in April, flew out to El Paso, rented a car, and drove around SE New Mexico, where I grew up, for a week. I had family that hadn't seen my kids since they were tiny. It was nice seeing the home stomping grounds again, visiting family and friends, kids got to see where I grew up, and even took them through Carlsbad Caverns. Probably won't do much more the rest of the year, I hope to get my jeep done so we can do some weekend camping and off roading trips, and take a couple of weekend trips on the bike.

Vacation? Oh right, that thing other people get to do. I'll have to look into that.

    X,
They say misery loves company...well, I'm right there with you my friend. I'm unlikely to see a vacation until my tenure dosier is submitted next August. The day after that, I'm planning on a 3-day-drunk.

    X and Ed,

Vacation for me is just work away from the office. I have a 6 year old daughter and a 12 year old son. The minute I am home its play with me, feed me, buy me, take me. Work is easier, there I only have one boss. For some strange reason my wife expects me to help , what crust!! I can't wait till I can become a burden on them
