I think its time to end this discussion.
In my opinion I would have nuked the entire middle east and made it the worlds largest parking lot. Hey guys remember if it wasn't for the US the rest of you would be speaking either German or Japanese. The US does a boatload of good for just about every country in the world and all we get for it is grief. We are not perfect but we try our best.

Good idea... We're here for our love of shaving not each others cultures or political leaders. If we need to discuss this further we can do it in another group.
I don't think omniphile started this thread to end up like this

Unfortunately I find it very difficult to resist a good political discussion. With my friends it can get pretty passionate and from the outside it looks like it's going to come to blows at any time, but it never does. We just get our kicks out of arguing out our differences but what keeps us together is that we are always there for each other. The second part definitely applies to the SRP and I am glad to be a member because of that.

The UK, including (and perhaps especially) Canada, did the lion's share against Germany and Japan was doomed from the outset, certainly failing at the end. Propaganda is a powerful tool. IMHO, Ilija is right (he unfortunately has the first hand experience for deeper understanding), Rich is an example of how, and it doesn't matter a whit anyway. This has been going on for a long time and will continue for a lot longer. As an optimist however, I do believe we shall improve. Again I direct you to the link in my signature.
In the end ... I'm here for the shaving and understand that for ALL of us that is the similarity which lets us put aside our larger differences.
Now ...
whether we should strop before AND after shaving ...
smiles vs. hollows for preference ...
if creams really are better than soaps ...
These are the things we should be arguing about.

Regardless of who did what there's one thing I think ANY country, govt, institution, etc. should keep in remembrance.
Bonapart was unstoppable until he took all the credit. His advisor spoke about the will of God and he vehemently claimed that he was the deciding factor in whether he won or lost and God had nothing to do with it.
For all the athiests, don't lose the significance just because you don't like God. Bonapart became conceited and refused to acknowledge there were factors beyond his control that he had to take into consideration AND account for.
Whenever a Government becomes so vain it forgets and/or ignores the important factors that are beyond human control it's doomed to failure.
