I guess I'd fall into the conservationist category as well. I also like vinyl records and typewriters.

I was poking around antique stores today in search of good bargains on any of the above and one of the helpful ladies told me that there's been a lot of men looking for straight razors lately. She thought they (and I) were all collectors, but when I told her that I actually shaved with them, she stopped and looked really closely at my cheeks. Then she tried to sell me an old shaving brush with a bakelite handle. (Bakelite...oooo...) By the feel of the bristles, however, I think I should have been sweeping really small floors with it.

By the way, when I do drive, I prefer a stick. My first car was a graduation gift from my father: a 1982 Mercury LN7 four speed manual. Six years old at the time and long gone, but the tape deck had the fastest rewind I've ever seen.

1996 Dodge RAM 196,857 miles automatic. First and only Dodge. Just rebuilt the tranny and replaced the intake and valve cover gaskets. Catch a lot of crap from the rest of the family and my crews for driving it but I refuse to give it up until I crack 300,000 miles. Oh Yea, a whopping 12.2 miles to the gallon. The rest of the fleet 6 F350s, 5 chev 3500s, 2 boom trucks and 5 assorted dump trucks are ALL STICK

I drive an 06 Honda Civic automatic. I get better than 40 MPG on the road. My wife drives an 05 Subaru Outback. This is actually the first auto I ever had. My last car was an 88 Saab which I had for 18 years. My wife told me either an auto this time or keep the saab and it was needing too much in repairs. se la vie

Man, I LOVE those late '80s and EARLY '90s Saabs 900-series, especially the 2-door models. Such a cool yet classy look. I also drove one and had lots of fun while I was at it, but the parts cost an arm and a leg even compared to VW parts, so I decided to take a pass. Could have got a sweet deal on the SPG. As you said, c'est la vie.

2006 Mini Cooper S with Cooper Works kit. I have always loved little cars. I have had too many Volkswagons to count. This Mini was the very first "new" car I ever bought.

Can I take'er for a spin? I love those small, quirky looking cars, and 160 ponies under the hood of something that small has plenty of kick. On top of that they're suppoosed to have amazing handling. Hopefully they will also come up with an AWD version (very useful here in Canada).

Excuse me mine has the Cooper Works kit it is 210HP. The Works kit adds a differnt manifold, cam shaft, suspension, and brake package. I kind of went over board since it was the first shiny new car I have ever had.
