The way I'd drive it, I'd die in that car That's why my friends did everything in their power to prevent me from buying a bike.

I drive a Silver"99 Volvo S70/automatic that I ordered factory direct while stationed in Spain. It replaced a 1984 5spd VW Scirocco, also silver. I loved the Scirocco but after many years of walking the metal decks in the ship, those unforgiving decks took a toll on my left hip. The clutch pedal on on that car was extremely stiff so I decided it was time for a more forgiving/comfortable car to tackle the commutes. Though, I still miss once in a while zipping around corners in the VW.

If stick shift is the same as manual (opposite of automatic) I drive stick shift.

I drive a Mazda 6 one year old and a Peugeot 106 4 years old, both manual.

Okay, I know it's too late, but I have to post a pic of my baby:

FiReSTaRT, I totally agree with your theory, I think people who like to do things the harder, better way sometimes gravitate towards straight razor shaving and stick shifts. And grinding their own coffee beans. And winding their own watches, etc. etc. Anyway, the car is my other big obsession, it's an '00 TT Quattro, 1.8 liter turbo I bought almost new from some farmer in South Dakota who drove it 7k miles in 4 years. I've modified it pretty heavily, and she grinds out a neck snapping 265 lb. ft. of torque, has 13.5 lb lightweight forged alloy wheels, upgraded intake, exhaust, software, internals, etc. There's basically a GTI under that skin, so lots of suppport for tuning and (relatively speaking) cheap, good upgrades. I only drive on weekends (otherwise always on public transpo) so I don't feel bad tearing around a bit when I have the chance.

Default RE: Poll: What do you drive?

Instead of going away for my holidays, I got one of these for a week and spent some serious money on petrol (£83 for a full tank). Worth every penny.

I said that I would be getting a Volkswagen Golf earlier in the thread, but that didn't happen. Instead, my Dad bought a 2007 Ford Ranger and sold me their 1997 Volkswagen Trek. It's an automatic and I'm quite used to driving it, so it will allow me to get around in style.

It's a pretty sweet looking ride. Black. Rear spoiler. Leather-wrapped wheel. Upgraded sound system. Alarm. No rust. Low mileage. Before it came my way, they had the breaks/suspension/shocks and a bunch of other stuff done. It drives even better than it did before now.

I'm pretty excited, this being my first car.

I've got to tint the windows for sure. Also, I'd like to put some new rims on the car to make it really stand out, but I don't think I'd do that until at least the spring.

    I'll post a picture later!

I never sold cars professionally but I couldn't agree more.

Yeah, I've registered on the VWVortex forums. A lot of those people sure drive nice looking cars. It's kind of frustrating how many threads just melt away, though. You can post a topic and if no one replies, you'll find it about five pages back in an hour!
