Thanked: 172RV owner opinions on towable vehicles.
I just purchased a 2000 Gulfstream Conquest Class "C" motorhome. It has the Ford E450 Triton V10. Gas
I am wanting to get a vehicle to tow and am leaning towards a smaller High milage 4WD SUV.
I would like some opinions on vehicles to consider and why, also whether to tow trailer, dolly , or 4down. At this time I am hearing more good things about towing 4down.
Thank for any words of wisdom since this is my first RV and also I am not very mechanical.Consider where you will spend ETERNITY !!!!!!

Thanked: 240I don't know anything about towing, but I could have sworn I hear that towing with the drive wheels down in an automatic was a no no. I can't remember where I heard this or if it is at all true, never made sense to me, neutral is neutral right? But I have heard it somewhere. As far as cars to consider it depends what you wanna use the "small 4wd suv for" you said you want 4wd so I would assume you are thinking at least a little off road adventure, in which case your options aren't very good because the AFAIK only jeep offers anything with a low range gear box that could be considered small. If your really not planning on doing any hard work Honda CRV, Toyota Rav 4, or a Nissan rogue (more of a crossover) would probably give you the best mileage in a 4wd platform.
