Politcs and mail service
It seems like Tonga and Fiji are in a bit of an international tiff lately.
The Tongan navy just "rescued" a dissident army officer, who also
happens to be a relative of the king of Tonga, right out from under
the nose of the recent military coup in Fiji.
Fuji has retaliated by filing for extradiction of the "fugitive" and also
the Fijian Navy has destroyed a navigation beacon on the southern-
most island of Tonga.
That's all politics, but there are implications for us regular folks here
in Tonga: all of our mail from overseas comes thru Fiji, and it appears
that Fiji Post...at the instruction from the military coup leaders...
are holding all of our mail as hostage!
I have been expecting mail from both Australia and the U.S. for two
months now, and there is nothing received from Fiji.
All we want is our stuff in the mail, but no....politics is more important
than the simple needs of the people here.
AARRGGHH!!!!"If you come up to it, and you just can't do it, then that's jolly well where you are."

Thanked: 983Mate I feel for ya. Fancy having some political BS being the cause for some idiot to hold your mail to ransom. What a sick joke that is.
But really, what sort of canoes do they use?! Single outrigger, Double or no stabilisers at all?! And who's are faster?! Weapons payload per canoe?!

This is the way of the world. My country has been waiting for a new government for almost a year now, yet none of the big coalition partners will budge, and it doesn't look like anything will change. This has all sorts of long term consequences, but that doesn't seem to matter to them. they still continue to be paid though.
