Some things transcend time and space, and never leave us.

Maybe because she knows that you are a great guy with always the best intentions in mind. Then it's not putting up with you, it's more like respecting that part of your personality as she sees that you genuinely cared for those people and is glad to be with a caring guy. If you treat her the way you treat this community, then she definitely sees herself as a winner. She's one of the rare smart ones. Most other women would rather be with guys who cheat on'em, slap them around or verbally abuse'em. She could do a lot worse than be with a guy who cares about people his life literally depended on.
