Phishing emails
Got one the other day saying ."Urgent" Bank of America ...... your account is in jeopardy if you don't enter in all of your financial info, IDs, passwords etc ...... Go to this URL. Since all I have with them is a mortgage and it is paid on time I knew it was BS.
First phishing email I've gotten in a long while. I got my very first one purporting to be from Paypal a few years back and I almost fell for it. I was about to type my info in but a little birdie told me to go to my paypal account. I did and found there was no problem and no official messages. Be careful out there.Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

It's gotten so bad and they have gotten so good when I get stuff like that I never click on it. I'll go to the website independently of the E-mail.

Guy I knew here asked me to do a translation of some "legal documents" he got. Turns out it was a phishing LETTER. It was all about a dead relative's massive fortune sitting in a Malaysian bank for 15 years, obvious bull to anyone who'd seen a 419 before but it was very, very good. Someone in Malaysia had taken the time to find the name of a major bank's CFO, then search out a company owner in Japan who had a relative pass away in 1995-6, including the relative's name, and actually mail the letter to the business address.
Be careful out there folks, the scammers are getting better every day.

Lately i've been daily receiving phishing emails regarding supposed deliveries by UPS, Fedex, and the like, but it's hardly at all surprising given that every few months i receive letters from legitimate companies such as banks that i've done business with, saying that my personal data has been compromised by some massive hacker data breach. It would be nice if such companies would be as diligent with protecting our personal data as they are with collecting the payments and revenue we send them.
