    Default If...Then How Come

If: Our elected officials will scream like they were gut shot at the very suggestion that detained individuals have to prove that they are in this country legally. And the very appearance of any sort of profiling with regard to anti-terrorism immediately makes us a wretched country full of racists

Then how come: Those same elected officials will mandate by law that I provide a birth certificate, W2 form, a residential lease agreement, a utility bill, a urine sample and a rectum swab to CHANGE THE ADDRESS ON AN EXISTING @#!$ DRIVERS LICENSE!

Apparently our airline security measures also mandate that sick 95 year old women in wheelchairs need to remove their diapers for the mandatory patdown. (We all know how dangerous 95 year old women in wheelchairs can be.)

It's control freakery, plain and simple. Look at the huge increase in state control over the last 10-12 years, look at the extra laws we have, the loss of freedoms...

In the UK we now have microchips in our bins for example. These are not used to track household waste amounts but to fine householders for putting an apple core in with the grass clippings. Seriously.

And all the screaming an shouting from the government is them protesting that they're not imposing on us more and more, and it's them furthering their agenda.

IMHO there's been a real shift in the political agendas over the last few years as well. What was once a middle of the road view is now seen as extremely right wing and what was left wing is now middle of the road.

The fact that the Tories (ostensibly a right wing party) and the lib dems (our furthest left party) have formed a coalition government and no one can tell the difference between the parties speaks volumes to me.

Anyways, back on topic, it's state control and micro management. All the data you provide will probably end up on a database somewhere...

I'm not some anti government person but I think they are taking the mick with all this paperwork and info they want.

    Rant over!

This is another situation that is easy to understand if you think like a politician. When we look inside the politician's brain we can see this thought process. "If we put all these restrictions on you we just end up with another angry old white man. There are a lot of them, but they are easy to ignore. But if we put any restrictions on someone who doesn't look like they were born in the same country as us we could be branded as racist. The racist brand can be political suicide. But no one listens to angry old men."

I think a better analogy would be if you were randomly pulled over because you were Caucasian and asked to provide all those things.

Quite simple human behavior and all too common. They are afraid. They will not feel less afraid until they make everyone else feel like they do. QED.

They cannot lead, they can only manage. You cannot manage fearless people. They are likely to tell you to go to hell and require you to lead, follow or get out of the way. None of these are attributes of present day "leaders." None of these are taught in educational institutions of "management."
