Default A Huge thanks from both me and my family

I posted last week in the shave of the day that I would be going in on Mon (7/25) for a kidney transplant. Luckilly I have an amazingly caring younger sister who was willing (and somewhat pushy) about being the donor and then caregiver. The actuall surgery went off without a hitch and in less than 24 hours my creatine levels (the marker they use to track the level of toxins in the blood) had dropped almost 70% (I'm not really a math student so that's just a rough guestimate) but basically in 3 days the number had gone from 13.? (almost 14) to 1.8. With the exception of excrutiating nausia and dry heaves the first night due to a slight reaction to the anesthesia, that both my sister and I had it was pretty smooth sailing. Jennifer was released on Wed a.m. and I was cut loose Fri afternoon. I'll have to have multiple weekly labs and appts to make sure everything is going as it's supposed to and to keep track of the drugs, some of which will be tapered off from but all in all the surgeons and Nephrologists were amazed at how quikcly we bounced back. Currently the two of us are dealing with the general aches and pains but that's what is to be expected after an ordeal such as this.
To wrap this up I just wanted to send out a HUGE thank you to all the members who sent their prayers and well wishes out to my family and I. We did fundraisers before hand to help offset the post surgery expenses and it's been a truly humbling experience to know that there are that many people out there that are wiling to step up and lend a hand to someone that in most cases they don't even know especially in these trying economic times. So Once again from my sister Jennifer and my self Thank You and GOD bless.

Oh...and that is one of the SRP Hats that CarrieM worked so hard to get for us when she took on the huge task of getting the orders gathered and QC'd and shipped out to all who ordered.

    Thanks Karen

Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
