Two boys wish to cross a river. The only way to get to the other side is by boat, but that boat can only take one boy at a time. The boat cannot return on its own, there are no ropes or similar tricks, yet both boys manage to cross using the boat.

The boat is long enough to bridge the river?

or? one boy paddles it across pushes it back and the other boy walks downstream to where it's carried by the current?

Edit, no wait, boat can't return on it's own can it.

Boy 1 crosses, returns.
Boy 2 crosses, returns.
Boy 1 high-fives Boy 2.

2 boys start on opposite sides of river:
Boy 1 on side 1
Boy 2 on side 2

Boy one crosses to side 2 with boat boy 2 crosses to side 1
both boys have crossed the river

they're on the two different banks of the river, so the one who has the boat on his side crosses first, then the other takes the boat and crosses to the opposite side. voila!

Hire a girl to ferry them across.

Boy 1 eats boy 2 and crosses the river in the boat.

Boy 1 and 2 both whip out their trusty Leatherman tools and turn the one boat into two rafts. Half way across they both sink and drown. The government taxes their parents for the body recovery.
