    Default Going to Oktoberfest

Can any of you guys from Germany help me figure out the best way to navigate the trip? We are going to spend 3 days in Munich and 3 days in Paris. I would like to go the Eagles Nest while in Germany. I don't actually plan spending 3 days in Paris. We are going to take a train to Amsterdam at least one of the days. Recommendations?

Also, how bad would it be to make a trip to Solingen? I think it's like 300 miles from Munich.

I've only been to Amsterdam of the cities on your list, and it's amazing even besides the coffee shops and red light district. We stayed a few days -- if the weather is nice then definitely rent some bicycles and try to keep up with the crazy cycling traffic. Also weather-dependent is Vondelpark. Eat a giant pancake, visit the Van Gogh Museum, and check out the Anne Frank House -- for the Anne Frank house we went like an hour before closing and there wasn't a line.

You'll be closer to Solingen while in Amsterdam. I always prefer to spend a few days in each city rather than trying to cram all the sites in a given spot in one day, but if it's not much travel time off the route between Munich and Amsterdam I'm sure it'd be neat to see the Dovo plant and some of the shops there. If your love of beer is stronger than your love of razors then you might want to look at Bruges or Brussels instead; the Delirium Cafe is amazing and you can probably find someplace that serves Westvleteren, which is undoubtedly the most enjoyable beer I've ever had.

Regardless, the trip sounds awesome! Follow up with some pics when you get back.

Thanks a lot for your input. I definitely want to check out the Van Gogh museum. My favorite painting is the "smoking man" so I'm excited to see it. I didn't realize we'd be closer to Solingen while in Amsterdam.

    Thanks!
