Well I don't think I'm paying too much. 32 razors and counting (some in the mail) at an average price of $14.80 Canadian each, including any shipping I paid, is what I just calculated. Only a couple have serious flaws. Locally I've paid between $10 and $40 (for one marked $75).

Thanked: 1185I've heard similar conversations about prices of cars these days as well. I haven't specifically crunched the numbers for prices of razors but I do know that if the price of cars back in the day is looked at in relation to the average annual wages people made back then, proportionally the price is about the same. I suspect the same may be true of razors. But wow! Could you just imagine going into a store that had a row or so of straight razors and the best of the best, top shelf straight razors were $4 a piece.
That said, I'd theorize that alot depends on where you're buying your razors and what specifically you're looking for. As we all know, quality brand new or custom straight razors will definitely put a dent in your wallet. Most of mine were flea market/antique store finds. I think the spendiest of the lot comes in at about $30. Most of them however come in the $5-10 range (including my C.V. Heljestrand that was a $5 razor. ) The key distinction here is affordable quality razors versus cheap crap. Granted I don't have the prettiest flashiest razors going but I don't own one that won't deliver a fabulous shave.Last edited by 1OldGI; 09-03-2011 at 04:53 AM.

Not only that, but the price of 1.50$ is also for an average razor for an average person.
If you want exitc scale material and fancy spinework, it would be more costly.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

Don't think I don't know the deal mister! The Canadians first mass on the border. 80% of all Canadians live within 20 miles of the border.... Next, destroy the money system. Then move in for the kill.... Well, let me tell you mister we are not going to accept your occupation that comes with less crime, a lesser fear driven paranoid culture..... The thought of losing our America (I know you live in North America, but we don't learn that in school, or much else for that matter, we hold an awesome place of 28 in the countries education systems!) to a bunch of polite organized barbarians is not gonna happen mister!

Thanked: 1587CPI - Counting on People's Ignorance.
Any comparison in costs that you get using CPI should be adjusted using the following formula:
1. Slice open the belly of a goat;
2. Pull out entrails;
3. Examine entrails;
4. Pick a number between 5 and 30;
5. Burn goat as offering to gods of economics in hope that They will provide you a usable CPI.
Man, I hate the CPI.

Thanked: 1185Not to mention Alex Tribec, Jim Carey, Bryan Adams, Pamela Anderson, and Shania Twain. Jeez they're everywhere! And any discussion of a Canadian invasion would not be complete without the mention of Central Florida here in about 3 or 4 months. It was bad enough when I came home and the Florida of my youth had been over run by New Yorkers, Jerseyites and Bostonites but from Novemeber-January I've got to pull out my Rosetta Stone software and learn how to speak Canadian!
