    Default RIP Lee Roy Selmon

One of the huge memories of my childhood was watching the hapless Bucs in the old Sombrero. Although the team in general was atrocious for the first couple years, Lee Roy was indeed a world class talent. He remained a consumate gentleman and respected member of the community after his retirement from football. May he rest in peace.

He was a little before my time but I very much enjoyed watching the video. It reminds me of watching the clips of 'Hamburger' going into this years hall of fame, both were lucky they played when they did because if they tried to play today theyd have more fines then 'Harrison' and quickly be forces out of the game. Great to watch those guys grind it out.

Some of these new rules in the NFL are just plain ridiculous. I understand that player safety is a concern and I have less than zero problem with fining a guy for a dirty hit but there have been some absolutely ridiculous fines already this year for what would be called "plain old good hits" back when football was a man's sport. Case in point a rookie Bucs linebacker Mason Foster was fined $30,000 for this hit on Chad Ocho Cino

Nothing wrong with that hit as far as I can tell, just a young kid playin' some hard football. Props to Ocho Cinco (it pains me to admire Chad Ocho Cinco anytime but in this case it really was a class act) he sent a letter to the Commissioner pleading the kid's case and even offered to pay the kid's fine.

And what discussion of old school, rough and tumble football would be complete without mentioning these two cats (both absolute maniacs)
