What you say?
Yesterday was a slow day and unfortunately for all of you I was thinking... about language.
Often times we say things without thinking and if we really thought about what we say we wouldn't say those things because they really make no sense. Idiomatic expressions? Maybe, but probably more slang and every language has them.
Can you think of some no matter you native tongue?
See there's one right there exactly what does native tongue really mean literally? Also I'm goin over Joe's house. Are you really going over his house like flying over it or climbing over it? Also "time flies". Does it really? Explain that one to me. Perhaps, "it's as easy as pie". Is a pie easy to make? No I don't think so and what does that have to do with what task you need to do?No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

My maternal grandfather was fond of using the expression "I'm about to windup" whatever task was at hand. A friend of his from South Africa, upon hearing this, asked him what position he had to get into in order to "windup".

My grandfather would always say when you asked how he was doing " I'm mean as a snake! " and granny always agreed.
