    Whether or not someone is attempting to sell a house they own, it is still considered among their assets.

    I think that is right. Until it is sold it is an asset based on value and once it is sold, depending on how long they've owned it, there would be capital gain, if I'm not mistaken ?
    Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

    She may not be telling the aid agency that she even HAS that asset. It sounds like it's in the UK, in which case she could probably just fail to mention it. She couldn't hide the money if it sold, though.

    As a business owner when i get a deadbeat or a waste of skin user i just drop them as a customer and cut my losts. But i always make sure they know what i think of them (makes me feel better).
