Thanked: 1185The Most Insanely Idiotic Thing I've Ever Heard
Now this is just plain old garden variety dumb.
Saudis fear there will be ¿no more virgins¿ and people will turn gay if female drive ban is lifted | Mail Online
Point of order. Driving a car will not make a woman not a virgin (although often times parking one has this effect ) Not sure where they're getting the connection to prostitution or pornography (which is already wildly popular throughout the middle east even where women can't drive)The older I get, the better I was

Thanked: 1371I don't see how it will cause a decrease in the number of virgins.
I can see how it would cause an increase in auto body repair business.
Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government.

I don't know-how many of us lost ours (virginity, that is) in the back seat of a car?
There are many roads to sharp.

Thanked: 247Well, the first thing my sister did when she got her license was get a girlfriend, go to the adult store, and pick up a prostitute. Wait, no...That was me. Nevermind.

Thanked: 485The great idea about women drivers (like your SWMBO) is you have someone to drive you back from parties when you're drunk. Works for me. However, I guess this isn't an issue in Saudi countries.
Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?

Thanked: 90The same could be said of a number of religions. Most Muslims don't take that view, just like most Christians don't bomb Abortion clinics. Don't take a story from the paper and extrapolate it out to all the Muslim world. I would point out that christian communities in the middle east are also quite conservative and repressive towards women.

Seriously Adrian, that's what you're going with? Seriously? Slamming an entire religion? How many Muslims do you know, on a personal level. Because I know several. And they all risked their lives to make sure our soldiers knew what hell the civilians in the sandbox were saying so our guys had proper intel. A couple of them didn't come home....

Don't go there brother, don't. Be a better person than attacking a whole group of people base on a few dumbasses. I don't know if you're Christian, Buddist, or otherwise, but know that atrocities and subjugation have been going on for centuries under the banner of one god or another.
On the actual topic of the post, I doubt very seriously if the males that don't want females to drive have any real religious argument. It seems more that they are stuck in their ways and don't want to change. It's a male dominance thing, not a religious thing, although they are quite intertwined.
Also, it doesn't sound like Saudis are any better that Kuwatis. I've seen some nasty wrecks, but none worse than Kuwait. Cars absolutely destroyed, torn in two. Crazy, crazy, crazy driving over there. Fun though, for a while.
