Well, not better, per se, but the difference between the likelihood of finding a winning ticket lying on the ground and buying a winning ticket is so small that it doesn't make any difference. And actually, I think it's somewhere in the $300 millions where game theory says it's actually a good idea to go head and throw a couple of dollars at it. And did you know that if you bought a lotto ticket every day from the time you turned 18 till the time you died at 75, and your two kids do the same thing, and their two kids do the same thing, then the odds are about 50/50 that one of you will have won the lotto before you all die.

ONe of the best remarks I recall about winning a lotto was "if you flap your arms fast enough, you can fly too."

BUT, it's guaranteed you won't win if you don't take a chance.

I hit 5 of six about 20 years ago on our state lotto. Paid $1100 and change. It was a nice kiss. Everybody was congratulating me. Pissed me off because I missed it by ONE!

Powerball is over 300M here tonight. I may donate a couple of bucks to somebody's good ride.

If I did win it, I leave a large steaming pile on the boss's desk with a post it note on top that says,

Dear Smokey, this ain't bird shit.

I can't afford to work here any more.
