    ESP seems right on . If you dont want to use the wood and glue route, you can easily find 2 predrilled steel braces and bolt the broken board together.

    Just realign the pieces, and fix everything with a piece of construction steel and some or screws.
    That's what I did a couple of years ago with our old sofa when a similar thing happened.

    +1, except I'd personally use appropriate sized carriage bolts rather than screws. Just personal preference, either will work.

    That's the way I'd go with it. Couple of pieces 1/2" or 3/4" angle iron about as long as that bay. One on the front side and one on the back. Fun part may be stretching the springs back where they need to be. LOL
