Thanked: 983Dydd Sant Dewi/ Saint Davids Day
Happy Saint Davids Day to all of those here of Welsh extraction. I hope you ejoy the festivities if you're in Wales (the rest of the world doesn't seem to notice or care about the patron Saint of Wales, but why worry about them?! Their loss.)

Thanked: 884Thank you Sir.
Got some Welsh in me back along the line on me mudder's side.
I always enjoyed the show this quote came from.
Blackadder : Have you ever been to Wales Baldrick?
Baldrick : No, but I've often thought I'd like to.
Blackadder : Well don't, it's a ghastly place. Huge gangs of tough sinewy men roam the valleys terrorising people with their close-harmony singing. You need half a pint of phlegm in your throat just to pronounce the placenames. Never ask for directions in Wales Baldrick, you'll be washing spit out of your hair for a fortnight.

Ah yes Wullie, You have to love Blackadder. One of my favourite comedy shows, an equal to The Vicar of Dibley.

Not a bad St David's Day here in Gloucestershire. Sun is shining and we beat England and won this year's Triple Crown at the rugby on Saturday!
Now here's an odd thing. I'm Welsh born and bred but had never had leeks until I moved to England aged 28!

Thanked: 983Well, they are really just a symbol of defiance today (A symbol of recognition/identification between Welsh and English troops from past times), it's not like you have to eat leeks to be Welsh .

At last, an advantage to climate change, lots of daffodils in flower for St Davids day.
