    Default A quick survey

Just a quick thought that popped into mind, that really had to be asked at some point. I've met the nicest people on this forum that even though I have never seen it stated,I would just like to know how many of us have read a post that has all the enthusiasm of having discovered plutonium, only to think "no shit Sherlock?". This is one of the only places that I have never seen this even by even one person, that's big, because it's the restraint of the members.
Its very nice that they get to think there the first to think of some of these, and even nicer that we let them. the question is "How many times have you wanted to? Just wondering..................A strange question I know, I just gotta know.

I think everyone of us has thought that at one time or another but we have also probably posted a comment that other people thought was silly too. But since this is a gentlemens forum everyone treats each other with respect! That is what I like about SRP!

Restraint in pointing out the obvious can be the mark of a gentleman! Something that is even well known in given circles is given deference when discovered by those new to the trade! I have seen many examples of gentlemanly behavior on SRP!

    Regards,

    Howard

Oh we have those kinds of posts from time to time. However, due to the hard work and diligence of the mod staff most of those posts are quickly addressed before many even get a chance to see them.

You do have to appreciate the people we have on here. ( sorry if I offended you the other day Spendur) It is easy to take the low road, and prove you are smarter than someone, but does that make you better?

Lol I have never been told no shit sherlock, but about 6 months ago I did recieve quite the dressing down from a few people familiar with hones that will remain nameless as I posted the lameness of my abilities on the stones! it builds character but more importantly it got me to really look at what I was doing and made me answer the question "do I really want to?". Like I said nothing major, just corrective statements and eventually words of encouragement lol

And this is one of the many, many reasons I love the SRP forum. It's the gentlemanly manner with which most everyone conducts themselves that makes me always want to contribute and participate. I came from a world of coffee forums overrun with a-holes galore, so this is terribly refreshing.

The point is that we shouldn't be dealt with, Bigpender. Up until you said that I thought we were all behaving on our own. I've have gotten an "all right that's enough now," but have never been censored. The mane point was that we mostly behave but all we have all had one of those moments where we had to bite our tongues at some point.
However, we should not lose our sence of humor about this, if someone walks one into you you might have a really good comeback, you can always say you were just joking, especially if the majority of the population s laughing, we should all be able to laugh at ourselves,I laugh at myself all the time.............

I've learned a lot and enjoyed my time here. I've tried to contribute when I could.

I also enjoy having some fun and will not have it at someone else's expense.

There have been a few times when I've bitten my lip and not responded at all to a post that I thought uncalled for but those have been VERY few. Some of my friends from elsewhere on the interweb have made some disparaging remarks about this board and its attitude toward n00bs. I have not seen any of that which they mention. Maybe it happened along time ago in another galaxy, far, far away.

I try not to take myself too seriously and hope the rest would do the same.

AND when I see a post that elicits the NS, S! I just grin and remember a time when I was in the same spot, then try to reply in a way to help them maintain their enthusiasm and learn something as well.
