It 's terrible when events like these happen any where in this country. It, terrible for the individual's involved and terrible for the families and friends of those involved. It's also terrible for our whole Society. The over all murder rate in the US may be down but the rate of 'justifiable homicides' are drastically increasing. The causes for these are what we should be concerned with. We should be looking for the reasons why and ways that our laws and governments are contributing to the increase and how it can be brought under control.

Whoa now, How do you know what was going on ???? He might very well was running away, or he was dis-engaging and that was when the kid turned as he percieved "Weakness" we can opine on this for hours about what the media says/has said, but honestly they have lost all credibility IMO and everything that gets reported is suspect at the least and an out an out lie at the worse...
I would love to see the actual evidence and the police reports and notes.. I have a feeling that there was a reason (s) that charges were not filed ASAP...Last edited by gssixgun; 04-18-2012 at 02:35 AM.

I just wish we could go a month without some over-covered national story from Florida. As unbelievable as it sounds, the media coverage here is even worse.
No idea why Zimmerman wasn't arraigned or arrested sooner. AFAIK 'stand your ground' doesn't exempt you from immediately having to justify your actions for killing an unarmed citizen.
And here in this college town a few idiot Trayvon "protesters" (black) tried to prevent a good Samaritan (white) from apprehending a purse snatcher (black). I know these few are the exception but the whole protest group here lost a lot of credibility to me:

I suppose we shall rely on the wisdom of the State of Florida on this one. It is really sad how the mainstream media has jilted this unfortunate situation both ways.
It is very difficult to decide from what I see. I truly wonder if some details are being withheld? A man is dead. Two families are messed up, for certain. It seems no crime was committed before the shooting, yet what really happened? May the courts and judges be wise on it. May the people of the United States be satisfied with their findings. Bad luck day for all involved. Indeed for us all. JMHO

Thanked: 884When I listened to the complete 911 tape made by Zimmerman, he was in his truck and had agreed with the dispatcher to meet the unit that was dispatched to his location.

If he'd stayed in his truck, I doubt this discussion would be taking place.

I think the main question now is: can Zimmerman still have a fair trial after all the media coverage and distortion of facts with the racial issue to boot?

Tricky.
To be fair, there is a lot of media hype because the facts are kept quiet + the controverse regarding the political influence of his dad.
Once the jurors are in the court room, they will no longer have to consider the political influence (that will be investigated separately I presume). And they will have people presenting what facts and witnesses there are.
As long as the jury does not have a majority of people form whom this is a race issue, his trial will be fair imo.

This is already unfair. They bypassed the Grand Jury for a reason. I'll Bet they were afraid of a No Bill and decided that there would be riots if that happened. Politics and sensationalism has become the new rule of law. This man will never get a fair trial.
Just my 2 cents.
