I don't know whether this will be popular or not but I have my own theory, I think Zimmerman just didn't have the balls to walk up to this kid and say hi. Are you lost is anything I can do for you? At that point, there would've been no tension and the night would've been uneventful and neither would've given each other a problem. However, having his trusty six shooter packed in his belt. He had the courage to follow this kid which he was told not to do. I really believe this whole thing could've been avoided, that being said, if things went down the way. He said they did and this guy was trying to crack his head open like a nut. Then he had every right to use whatever means he needed to defend himself.

Good point. I've found that being overly polite and a bit 'busy' about it, you generate some sort of 'flow' that drags other people along. Kind of like how a used car salesman can make people make decisions they would not normally make.
I've read about bank security people doing something similar to handle amateur bank robbers. They treat them like they have absolutely no idea that the other guy is about to rob the bank, and them sit him down immediately while being overly friendly and helpful. For professional robbers this won't work, but for the amateur guy it does. This way the stats for ending the thing with no shots fired is much higher, even if it means potentially not being able to arrest the guy.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.
