Okay, call me stupid. I generally have a Buck stockman with a two inch main blade and a small leatherman with me when I travel. They are handy tools. Travel means many European countries including England, Sweden and Russia as well as Australia. Of course, I also had a run in with the German Police in Berlin. I took a photo of the American Embassy in August 2002.

By 'Over here' I presume you mean the UK (as you dont give your location).

Legal slipjoints with natural handles are few and far between, I'm afraid.

One brand I can recommend is Case. I carry a Case knife here in the UK (a Texas Toothpick) - they are a good old brand (been around for ever), they produce lots of different designs and use some natural materials. The steel used for the blade is quite good as well. Check out their site:

A couple weeks ago I had to go to
    the state capitol in Charleston.
The office I was visiting was in
one of the annex buildings. Well
when I got there I realized that
I had my pocket knife an Eye Brand
which is 3 3/4 inches closed. I mentioned
this and was going to take it back to
my car, but the guard said no need in
that. So I was allowed to enter and
go about my business, with my knife.

So in a lot of ways this state is kinda cool,
and some common sense still exists here.

I recall hearing that at least one state (Minnesota, I'm inclined to say, but I could be wrong) that had ruled that people with a CCW can't be prevented from bringing their firearms into a public building.

Maybe I should move to a more reasonable state...

They still make half decent knives in Sheffield you know!

    A.Wright & Co.

The stag workbacks are rather nice.

Thanks. I am in the UK. Thought it said that! Will make the relevant changes so it does!

May have been Utah. I remember hearing something when they had the Winter Olympics.

Hmm, let's see...for daily carry, a leatherman wave with locking serrated and nonserrated blades...7" USMC Ka-bar, OAL 11 and 3/4". Anyone who tries to take them from me is getting stabbed. :P

Fortunately, I hail from a blue state (WA) with surprisingly decent legislation on knives and guns. Easy to get a CCW, and the only somewhat inconvenient place that you can't carry in is bars. Probably a good idea anyway, as I trust my own judgement but not most other folks'...

(the ka-bar is not a daily carry in the states, but the Wave is.)
