Thanked: 1185Nanny State Strikes Again!
So when I lived in Texas I knew they had a similar law but I thought the Sunshine State was a bit more enlightened. Apparently I was wrong. I went to the supermarket this morning to pick up a few things for Sunday dinner. With the weather being quite warm I thought a 12 pack of beer was in order. Apparently there is no selling of beer authorized on Sunday before 1100. Had they sold me the beers I would not have drank any until this afternoon anyway. A couple things:
1. If I was going to church, drinking a few cold ones on the way would probably not even be a consideration
2. If I was a raging alcoholic, a rough Saturday night would probably keep me in bed until well after 1100.
3. If I was not a raging alcoholic (and I'm not mind you) and just felt like a few cold ones with my bacon and eggs, as long as I'm not driving or hurting anyone, why would that be anyone's business but my own?
And we actually have the stones to call this a free country. The founding fathers are likely spinning in their graves at what has become of our country.
