ps3 commemartive straight
hey bill why dont you make a jet black straight with the playstation 3 logo on it, put it on your site and see if 100,00 people stampede over each other to get one. Right now you could probably put a $2 grand price on it and would sell like hot cakes.

you have to wonder though...how many people that pride themselves on shaving with a straight actually know what a PS3 is or plan to get one?

Thanked: 346Well, I know what one is, but I'm opting for a wii60. Just brought my wii home tonight!
Just finished a wild-west run in "rayman raving rabbids" shooting bunnies with my toilet-bowl-plunger gun. Great fun, great fun.

The funnier thing is the people willing to pay $1000 for them on ebay.

Thanked: 346The list price on these things is $600. The price of just the components is estimated at $800+. Sony is selling these things at a pretty big loss, but the market size at the $1000 they need to make a profit is too small, they have to get a lot of systems out there at any price in order to have enough of a customer base for developers to bother writing games for it (Microsoft's Xbox360 launched last year and has already sold 6-7 million system, so sony's playing catch-up).
The PS3 also includes a Hi-Definition Blu-ray player. Sony owns the rights to blu-ray, and is trying to make it the standard hi-definition DVD player which obviously means big bucks down the road for their movie business and their audio-video business. There's a competing format called HD-DVD, and and sony is determined not to repeat their betamax debacle. So they're willing to take a big loss on this thing in the beginning in order to crack open a lot of different markets.
Personally, I don't care what gadgets and whatzits it comes with, or how expensive the hardware inside is. $600 is insane for a game system. The Nintendo Wii is only $250 which is more like it, and that motion-sensing controller is pure sex. The controller looks like a remote, and you just point it at the screen to shoot things, or swing it like a tennis racket or a golf club, or punch with it in a boxing game.

One-thousand? They're going for several times that on eBay, actually! A couple of days ago I caught the last couple of minutes of an auction for one of them. One second it was at $2555.00 -- the next, $3000.00.
They've gone a lot higher than that, too. I was told one went for $10,000.00 the other day.

That kid should have used that money to clean himself up, get lipo, a few facials and a girlfriend or 5. $10,000 for a gaming system
