    Default Forest Fires in Colorado

It has been a crazy fire season here in Colorado, we have about 8 forest fires active right now. This is a picture of the latest fire that has destroyed over 2000 acres in 1 day outside of Colorado Springs.

We have had an arsonist who has started about 20 forest fires this year. They are not sure if this one was him/her or not yet. Fire crews are just trying to slow it down right now.

Sure is, it was started up in Waldo Canyon between Old Colorado City/Manitou Springs and Woodland Park.

There are actually 12 active fires in CO. Some small and some large.

The fire you speak of is about 3000+ acres and by the way it's going it's headed right for Woodland Park. When I'm at work I can smell that fire and the flight plan for those air tankers goes right over my office. The largest in Colorado right now is that pesky High Park fire that is at 83,000 acres and still going strong. I have friends up there that say it's a constant smell of a camp fire and the closer you get to Horsetooth the more it's snowing ashes. There is another near New Mexico in the Colorado area that is at 20,000+ acres.

Here is a link to the fire maps. This link updates the maps better than most news outlets show. The link only shows certain fires but there are 12 active fires. Some have better containment and those that don't make this list.
