Default Newest Photo of the Waldo Canyon Fire outside of Colorado Springs

This is the latest picture of the Waldo Canyon Fire. Today it reached a subdivision of homes and is completely out of control. Just a terrible sight...

We are getting tons of FB and e-mail info from our Family and Friends there in C-Spgs.. Have they not mobilized the Colorado National guard and/or Ft Carson ?????

So far all we have heard of is 4 count them 4 C-130's being deployed

The pics I am getting are mostly from the canyon that follows the road up to the Shooting Range above Garden of the Gods but those homes are history up there by now.. We heard Flying W is history and the flames are hitting down by Centenial Blvd in Rockrimmon

Also the 32500 people have evacuated and almost none are using the Red Cross shelters because of Family,Neighbors and Friends helping

Yes, everything you have heard is absolutely correct as of this morning. They evacuated parts of the Air Force Academy, Flying W is completely gone, they don't have a count on how many homes have been lost yet. The winds are changing very quickly which makes it extremely difficult to predict where the fire will go from hour to hour. Last I heard they were talking about mobilizing the National Guard but I am not sure if they have done it. A lot of people are not happy with how this has been handled by the people in charge, but the community is really coming together to help each other. It is just a terrible situation

Flying W is a historic running cattle ranch that has been around since the 50's. It is a huge tourist attraction that also offers western style food and entertainment. They do weddings, reunions and parties there also. It was just a great attraction for the Colorado Springs area. Just a shame...

That is horrible. Thank God for human kindness! Lets hope the C-130's are fast and accurate on their drops and all the firemen stay safe fighting it.

Being in the communication and television business I can tell you that watching TV only gets you part of it. Try watching some of the internet feeds. Last night 9news failed to kill any of the feeds on Livestream. You could see and hear all activity going on and even the standby's before a live report. It's kind of cool because you can see the reporters warming up people for the questions so they answer fast and accurately when they go live.

The C-130's were grounded last night due to strong down force winds in the canyon and the dip zone was too small for such a large plane. If one of those goes down you would have a real mess. I picked that one up from the background chatter before the fire Chief and Gov spoke. As for the National Guard, the Gov said it best when he said there is not much they can do other than help create fire lines as the whole fire really cannot be put out. Colorado is already chewing up half of the nations fire fighting resources. Also, if you stop to think about it the military has already been deployed to some extent with the C-130's.

This fire is really sad. It has nearly moved into the city. The AF Academy has nearly evac'd and at one point I-25 going into the Springs was shutdown.
