I would like to join SASS but the nearest club that has matches is about 1.5 hours drive each way And that was a pretty small group. Then there was the expense of all the gear. But I did read that it is a very good group of people that are usually always willing to let you use their hardware if you are short due to being a newb.
On a side note I was checking out a custom Colt SA .45 at the NRA show this summer. That was the smoothest, butteriest, action I have ever felt! You'd have to feel it to understand. It was almost enough to make me whip out the CC and order one up.

It sure is hard to resist those S.A. Colts revolvers. I have been fighting the urge for a while. I think every American boy (or boy at heart) has a secret longing to shoot these cowboy guns. Who doesn't like the sound of a lever action Winchester rifle echoing through a canyon?

I only really enjor shooting what I can carry, I have been interested in IDPA for a while and recently found a place with competitions on days I am home yay!!!
On another note though, I have always wanted a damn sexy colt peacemaker to baby and clean with a diaper when guests come over lol...cause they are just all sorts of sexy (even the replica's)

You are going to LOVE IDPA! It's the most fun shooting sport I have participated in. I competed the first year they got started about ten years ago. It seems to have grown nicely. Make sure you have someone shoot some video when you compete. It's really helpful to see yourself in action. Try using your J-Frame in the backup revolver division too.
Some of the Colt replica's are amazing; love the gorgeous case hardened finish.Last edited by Korndog; 11-26-2006 at 04:00 PM.

Thanked: 4My boss is Sheriff of the local National Congress of Old West Shootists posse. They go for a bit more authenticity in their gear and range scenarios than SASS does (according to him). Their range sounds like an old west version of Hogan's Alley in their setup. IIRC, you need a hideout pistol, main pistol, shotgun, and a rifle to shoot all the matches. Some scenarios require all of the above. He does go through a LOT of ammo, though.

Thanked: 369Oh, and if you're a really hard core re-enactor type, or just like old fahioned stuff, check this out: http://www.circlekb.com/page/CKCG/PROD/FP/GatlingGuns
Now that's my kinda gun.
If only I had a spare $6K burning a hole in my pocket.Last edited by honedright; 12-02-2006 at 12:19 AM.
