I remember when our family drove from Rhode Island to Florida back in 1965 and we were in a 1955 Buick Super and I fell asleep on that shelf under the back window. How much of a fine would that be today!!!!!

How many times have you entered the intersection to make a left turn and cant until the light is Well red because the cars keep on coming. Happens to me every day. Whatever happpened to not entering the intersection unless you can clear it with out the light turning? Or is this just something that happens in Toronto.

Thanked: 884Ain't just Toronto.
Happens to me all the time here in Ft Worth. 4 out of 5 of them will have a cell phone stuck to the side of their head.
I started through an intersection today, I had the green light, but I look both ways anyway. Good thing because some clown blew the light coming from my left side. I just stopped and waited for him to muddle on by. He was not holding a cell phone to his ear.
Makes ya wonder.

Driving a white ford E250 van @ 35 mph I got T-boned (I had the right of way) by a gal who pulled out from a stop sign (accelerating) and was talking on a cell phone. At 4 O'clock in the afternoon, on a sunny day, said she didn't see me.

Right turn on red after a stop was required nationwide by the feds. In MA, they tried right turn on red allowed only if there was a sign at the intersection to allow it, but that was vetoed by the feds with a threat of suspension of highway funds to MA. It is OK to forbid right turn on red using a sign at each intersection where it is to be forbidden.
Smart phones are a significant cause of drivers losing road focus/awareness. Too many Kids today drive switching their focus back and forth between the road and their incoming text messages. Even worse, this may be happening while the driver is singing and bouncing away on the seat in time with loud music from the sound system/radio.Last edited by sheajohnw; 07-12-2012 at 01:32 PM.

I remember all of these things, in fact a got a couple of tickets in GA for not completly stopping before turing right on red just about the time that the law was changing.
I also remember standing up in the front seat with my cousins in my uncle's pick up truck!! We would have made a couple of nice meat missles in a head on huh? It really wasn't uncommon for kids to get a bump on the head from a quick stop and hitting the metal dash back in those days.

Within this vale
Of toil
And sin
Your head grows bald
