Re: Whats your opinion on automatic weapons?
Most people know the part of beating swords in to plowshares but in Joel 3:10 there is a bit about beating plowshares into swords and pruning hooks into spears do that even the weak can say they are strong.
It's all a dice roll. I have my guns. All my autoloading rifles are for hunting (ar-15 in 5.56 for coyotes and groundhogs, 10/22 for groundhogs, squirrels and rabbits. Plan to add an upper in 6.8 to the AR for deer and hog hunting next year).
But, if someone broke in to my home and threatened my children or wife I'd have no problem at all using it on them. Once someone does something like that I deem their life forfeit and the 12 folks who will be deciding if I did right or wrong in the eyes of the law will hopefully agree with me. If not, at least my wife and kids will be alive.
And, while I may be armed most days, I'm a pacifist. But diplomacy only goes so far with people on the street trying to do harm.

Yes, I have always wanted an old Civil War rifle in good condition; just can't pay that kind on money

Re: Whats your opinion on automatic weapons?
My great aunt had a sharps carbine and two enfields plus full uniforms from both sides. We played with some cavalry swords as kids.
Sadly, she left all that stuff to my uncle who just has it in a box in his basement.
At my house those uniforms would be on display and most likely those rifles would be shot from time to time.

Maybe you need to make a deal with your uncle.

Thanked: 2284Here in Canada, getting a full auto gun is like seeing palm trees outside. It just doesnt happen. Buuuuttt, My favorite is Ak47 with red dot. some times ill throw on extended mag for more ammo. You have to use slight of hand too, for those sticky situations. Im sure when Call of duty black ops 2 comes out ill have a different setup!
Burls, Girls, and all things that Swirl....

Automatic must likely refers to how the gun puts the next bullet in place for you
to pull the trigger again.
The Bolt action guns or manuall firing cause you have to put each one in place to
fire it your self.
so they are right.

My firearms have 2 purposes: Punching holes in paper while going *BANG*BANG* and putting food on the table. It doesn't matter what the military forces used those tools for. Us civilians put them to different uses. Those "assault weapons" are typically light, reliable, versatile and accurate enough for hunting. Often they make better hunting implements than purpose-built rifles.
The only possible time they could be used against fellow-humans would be in a home invasion scenario where they'd be used to protect law-abiding citizens from serious harm inflicted by the criminal element, but for some reason, I don't see God frowning on me busting out the SKS if a bunch of crackheads decided to come in and make themselves at home.
