Favorite Olympic Event!!
Just thought I would start this thread before the games start. Well, what is it?
Mine is either swimming or gymnastics BTW.

Thanked: 334HOCKEY!!!
Actually for the summer games it's women's beach volleyball (obvious reasons!) followed closely by women's gymnastics -- I'm always amazed at what those young ladies can do, and how effortlessly they seem to do it! That is real skill there.

Thanked: 334Even the guys on the floor exercise seem graceful to me. Not quite on par with the ladies, but not all that far behind them either from what I see with my untrained eye. Of course, you know more now than I could learn in the rest of my life!

Oh, great thread, watching the opening ceremony right now, and I am so looking forward to these 16 days.
To pick a favorite sport is impossible for me, there are so many great athletes performing at the very peak of their sports.
One of the fun things about the whole thing is the fact that one gets to see all those sports that don't usually get shown around here.
If history is anything to go by, here's a few moments/sports/athletes I will never ever forget:
Teofilio Stevenson, Cuban boxer. an absolute joy to watch, this guy won his gold medals easier than any, except for one.
That one is the Siberian Lift, Aleksander Karelin. Wrestling. Pound for pound, the baddest **** in the world for a decade!
I have actually met the man, and he is the sweetest guy imaginable, but his looks and physique is still to this day awe inspiring.
Carl Lewis, a terrible singer, but what an athlete
Alberto Juantorena, Cuban 800m runner. He won everything by a minute
The dream team in 92.
Edwin Moses, 400m hurdles. What a caracther, what an athlete.
Sebastian Coe, a true gentleman and a superb runner of the classic 1500m and the English mile.
Oh, and all the great ones from my country, pointless to name, but great memories nonetheless
Oh, I could go on an on for hours with this.
I'm excited, and will go to see some of the events in London myself. I simply cannot wait!!Bjoernar
Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....

My favorite Olympic Sport is watching the begging contest. You know the one where men of the cloth of all religions in the world dress in their best garb and have a tin plate and try and collect the most from the spectators.
What? you say that's not part of the Olympics? It must be I saw it on T.V several years ago. Maybe they stopped it due to political pressure eh?No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero
