Not really, it's only a proof that many people don't know how to make relevant comparisons

How about comparing the ratios of (lives saved by doctors)/(lives lost due to doctors) vs. (lives saved by non LEO w/ guns)/(lives lost by non LEO w/ guns)

Edit: And you can replace guns with any specific class of guns the ownership of which is under consideration of being restricted, if you're interested in quantifying the effect in terms of lives saved/lost.
