The world is moving towards metric more and more every day.
It's gonna take a wee bit longer to get those thick-sculled Americans on board, but on board they will come.

That law is as much followed by your average Joe as the one stating that t’s illegal to attend a public event or use public transport within 4 hours of eating an onion or garlic in Indiana

I just wish they'd pick one or the other. All through college it's metric. I didn't really use English units till I got a job. Now it's a mix. There are many a time where the error resides soley on unit mistakes. It's a shame

Back when most people didn't have time or inclination for schooling it made sense to dumb down the common life math as much as possible, and since integer numbers are much more easily understandable, the regular units of measurement were picked to be divisible by more factors (12 is divisible by 2, 3, 4, and 6, while 10 only by 2 and 5).

If we had 7 fingers the metric system would probably be base 7 or 14 instead of 10.

The main reason the metric system got widely adopted in Europe was Napoleon's enforcement.

BTW I also heard that its adoption rate in US has increased dramatically since the current socialist president of US got to power. NRA is currently fighting his sinister plan to convert all gun calibers into metric (who's ever heard of loading 9.07mm ammo in a .357 caliber gun), so make sure to send your donation in Continental Dollars (preferably in sixths).

Another US gaffe here.

If people in the US DO say these words, they say CEN-timeter, MILLI-meter and NANO-meter. But when it comes to kilometers we decided on kil-OM-eter. Might as well say cen-TIM-eter, mil-IM-eter and nan-OM-eter. I don't get it. It's all messed up. Gotta start over.

Also, why do we not have metric time? 100-seconds per minute, 100-minutes per hours and 10-hours per day. This has bothered me for years.

Oh well, what's so bad about 29/32nds and 113/164ths anyhow. You can do that stuff in your head with a little practice.
