Default Unexpected find at antique store

I was out yesterday, driving around and testing the new thermostat in the olds. I decided I would stop by an antique shop that has had some good finds for me. Unfortunately, nothing much had changed since the last time I was there. I politely confirmed that the owner still had my number if anything shaving related comes in and started to head out.

Then I heard a man's voice, "Can I see that razor, please." I turned around and watched for about a minute. He was looking at what ended up being an empty box. I had to ask, " You collect straight razors too?"

He responded with a smile and told me he shaves with them. When I said I did as well, we then started a half hour discussion of our razors, favorite sites, areas in town to shop. But more or less he was educating me more than I was educating him. He told me of stores that are in towns near by, sites where I could get supplies for a fair price, and then asked me if I had ever heard of Lynn Abrams (you do realize you are going to be an Odysseus of straight razors, right?) when I told him Lynn had honed my first razor he just grinned from ear to ear.

I just wanted to share this with you all, because as different as we all may be we are all very much alike. I had more in common with the stranger I met than I didn't. His other hobbies weren't to far away from mine. We exchanged emails and this morning he sent me a message with some more links to other local stores and books he thought I would like.

It is pretty awesome, in my opinion, that one can meet a stranger and yet have so much to say with only a morning rutine in common. Maybe there are more local straight shavers near me. I look forward to meeting them.

It's a small, strange world for sure you never know when or where you will meet a fellowminded

I came in contact with another member at B&B (before we both came here), turned out we live just a few houses from eachother
