Default What is on your Xmas Wish List? non-shaving

Okay guys, what cool toys do you have on your wish list for this year?? Big screen TV? Surround Sound?

Me?, somthing geeky really (and already found so no surprise). Two rare Pickett Slide Rulers for my collection. An N-525-ES Stat Rule (statistical scales) and a N905-ES "texas speed rule", a special ruler Pickett made for an annual Texas high school slide rule mathmatics competition. It has an odd arrangement of duplicated scales to make calulations go faster, and hopefully help a student win the event.
Boring, geeky stuff, but fun for me.

    How about you?

As strange as it may sound, nothing really
and it will probably be just that. If I do get
something it will have to be a gift to myself.
Can't really think of anything though. I
suppose I'm just boring or easily pleased
and quite content with my life.

I completely understand you Terry. When I was younger I used to be more materialistic, but now I'm more content with what I have.

Here in Salt Lake City we have an fm station called "Jack FM", which is a syndicated format. There are several across the nation. They advertise as "Jack FM, playing what we want!"

Well, I have a radio in my car that is very similar...it plays when it wants!

SO maybe a replacement would be nice.

Super-Automatic Espresso machine like this. I doubt I'm getting one of these babies though. Rather pricey.

You mean they still make houses that aren't next to a starbucks

Hey Tony where can I find a tutorial on how to use a slide rule, I used to be able to do basic calculations with one but have long since forgotten though I still have the rule. I always thought they were cool instruments too.

    Tim,
Here is a link to a nice site showing a quick history of slide rules as well as some basic instruction on how they work.

    http://www.sliderule.ca/

I've got dozens of spare instruction booklets and could send on along for you if you like.
