Re: Canada Closes Embassy in Iran
Nothing against Iranians, but I support this decision based on the information I have been fed.

My worry with this is that it may be a pre-emptive move to get our Tehran embassy closed before it could be a target in the wake of a strike against their nuclear programme. At best such a strike would probably *delay* their nuclear programme by a few years without shutting it down while at the same time risking all-out regional war.
Tough to find the right path forward on this one, eh? Don't get me wrong - I'm no fan at all of Ahmadinejad. He's a wingnut and his apocalyptic rhetoric is extremely dangerous. I'm just not sure how best to deal with the situation.
Anyway, hopefully I'm wrong about the reason.
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

Thanked: 334If anyone is truly serious about attaining world peace, give 'em all nukes. Thus, the American defencive paradigm of MAD (Mutual Assured Destruction) becomes the ultimate bargaining chip in this zero-sum game.
I lived thru the Cold War when we worried about surviving, which was not desirable given the predicted post-event conditions. I lived thru post 9/11 when we worried about dying, which is not desirable. I'm getting pretty tired of all the nonsense perspectives from those who have no education in statecraft.
In short, maybe allowing the creation of an Islamic nuke would ultimately defuse worries of WMDs.

I am pretty sure there are a lot of smart people with a lot of information that we have no idea about, involved in getting to this. As far as Mr. Ahmadinejad he never seemed to me like having any real power - he looks like just a front for the religious leadership that makes the real decisions. And they have proven to be extremely smart and really good at world politics.

Canada Closes Embassy in Iran
Why does any Western Country need an Embassy there? We still have BP there to look after the West's interests.
