It was along the lines of since the majority of owners are in the US and a large portion of those may view associations/unions as things that must be broken no matter what Bettmen is obliged to be extremely hard line in negotiations. That type of my way or the highway negotiating is almost guaranteed to bring about the end result we now have, a lockout. That to me is tantamount to bargaining in bad faith.

That is especially true if the players had offered to start the season under the old contract while continuing to negotiate a new one and the owners rejected that offer. The objective of these negotiations may never have been to reach a mutual understanding and new contract in the first place. The majority of the owners must feel that they can take the financial hit of a lockout and that the fans will come flocking back as they had after the previous lockout.

I have to admit that I am predisposed to think that is a pretty good take on things.

Your comment concerning Union Busting may be correct. In years past the US car manufacturers would do the same. Negotiations would be started with only one company who would Play the Tuff Guy and hold the Line and take the STRICK Hit for the other companies. As we saw no one really won back then and one one will really Win now. Sad.

Now as there's nothing still happening in NHL there seems to be the flow of players coming to this side of the bond.
Unfortunately KHL seems to be the biggest winner. That is where the big money is these days and they do not need to negotiate about the wages.

Several players have already come to play in our national league. Unfortunately only one (Kris Russell/St. Louis Blues) into my home team TPS Turku. We are still waiting for our own town boy Mikko Koivu (Minnesota Wilds) to make his decision. He has already been practicing here. Maybe few other players too, names still unrevealed.

From the start of the season we already had 4 foreign players: Michel Birger from Czech and Corey Locke, Travis Ernhardt abd Brian Willsie from Canada.

Normally I can't stand poppy music like this, but this is fantastic. Not least because of quality Palomino content. Strange memories of that bar, but that's a whole other story...

It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.
