    I once watched a video of a guy shaving with a fresh shard of obsidian.

    I found it interesting that in the clinical animal trials, the incision caused by the prismatic blade required 1.1 - 2.5 times the force to reopen. I'd shave with it...

    Did the story state how well it handled an autoclave time after time?

    looks like that article is over 20 years old. They mostly use lasers for surgery these days.

    Wouldn't matter as they toss the blades after each use only the handle is autoclaved

    Obsidian is still used in surgery today. I think eye surgery. the blades are brittle, but more durable and sharper than steel scalpels.
