Here I am alone once more.

You’ve gone out tonight again.

Caught between the death and darkness,

next to boots with tags inside.

Thank you to all who have served; no matter which branch.

My wife called her dad today and wished him a happy Marine Corps birthday. She remembers every year growing up her dad would come to the breakfast table and announce which Marine Corps birthday it was.
