Thanked: 67I was about to say that Britain is definitely not a republic (we have a queen) and not socialist by any stretch of the imagination.
One of the most socialist features of the UK state is the NHS (set up by Attlee's Labour government just after WWII), which is very popular. I recently needed some fairly major medical work, and they were fantastic. I didn't pay a penny, either (it's funded from general taxation). For some reason though we don't have Obama's death panels as part of the NHS, dunno why. How are they working out across the pond?
