I do not hear the Germans complain of their country, or the French, English, etc.
I wonder if the Germans or the Brits would even go along with being called socialist republics..
Really, most of Europe ain't excactly Cuba guys.
Heck, I live in a much more socialist state than all of those, and in all honesty, it ain't half bad here either!

I was about to say that Britain is definitely not a republic (we have a queen) and not socialist by any stretch of the imagination.

One of the most socialist features of the UK state is the NHS (set up by Attlee's Labour government just after WWII), which is very popular. I recently needed some fairly major medical work, and they were fantastic. I didn't pay a penny, either (it's funded from general taxation). For some reason though we don't have Obama's death panels as part of the NHS, dunno why. How are they working out across the pond?

They are not but based on the premise made here they should be considered such. I mean if people are calling the government of the most capitalistic country in the world socialist, then what is left for the rest of the world to say?

I understand the Norway is #1 in the world in wealth, I believe. Most of it thanks to Phillips Pet. Co. developement of the North Sea Oil. So USA made Norway what it is today.
