So I gotta ask. Do your clippers stink?

Great story thanks for sharing your bonding experiences.

I think I know that chain of "Barber" shops. I refuse to go. I had a nice old school barber here that I liked but he retired last year. A $25 set of clippers and the #2 guide and I'm a happy camper.
But I do miss the old shop and the shop I grew up going to. Three fellows cutting hair. No women barbers. Smelled like Pinaud. There was a pile of magazines and a coffee maker. My dad wouldn't let me look at certain magazines or drink the coffee when I was a wee one. They only broke out clippers for buzz cuts.

Well... Actually my latest did before I ever used them on my self. Over the years I have had a couple of clippers from target etc. They got dull and were more economical as a throw away rather than buying blades. The latest and best by far are for dog grooming. Now there are barbers that deserve their pay! I tried myself a couple of times on my old dog before I gave up. When the last "human" clippers became not usable I thought I would give them a try. They smelled a little bit like old dog but cleaned up nicely. Bang for the buck, these can't be beat.

The worst clippers I tried were and old pair of hand squeeze ones. I tried to sharpen them etc. When by boy tried to do the back of my neck he pinched a hair or two! OMG! I now have it as an example of a torture device.

    Forgive my ramble. You asked!

In my area a haircut is around $15.00. No real barber shops like the old days though there are a few with a resemblance. I've been getting my haircut from the same guy for the past ten or twelve years. I get the $8.00 senior discount now and I tip him two bucks. Times are hard.

He is an middle aged Cuban guy who learned from his father before him. He has a dubl duck Dwarf that is father passed on to him but he doesn't know how to hone and never does shaves. His hair cuts are not good but they are cheap. I find the difference in a good haircut and a bad one is about two weeks. I get mine cut every 8 or 10 whether it needs it or not.

I haven't been to a barber, hairdresser, dude with a pair of clippers and a bowl, etc for coming up to 20 years. You should all do yourselves a favour and wear the Jimbo hairstyle.

    I do!

But I don't like to shave it everyday. So I still go to the barber every other week.

Besides, it's fun and helps support a dying art.
